Carbon monoxide (CO) levels are measured and
recorded by a state-of-the-art electrochemical sensor. When a chronic
carbon monoxide level of 40-70 ppm or more is detected, a flashing Red LED and
85db pulsating alarm are activated, and the carbon monoxide level is
alpha-numerically displayed up to 500 ppm.
Pressing the reset
button temporarily mutes the audible signal while the carbon monoxide level is
rechecked. If carbon monoxide remains at 40-70 ppm or higher, the visual and audible
alarm signals are automatically reactivated. After ventilation, the LED
is auto-reset to a flashing Green (power on), the audible signal is
silenced, and detection restarts.
The highest carbon monoxide level
detected (peak), from 10 to 500 ppm, and time duration for peak level can
be recalled from memory by pressing the test/reset button. Current
carbon monoxide
levels and COHb calculations can also be displayed.
An internal clock
monitors the sensor life and activates visual and audible expiration
signals at five years. The Lithium battery included should last
the life of the carbon monoxide detector.
